Singapore, September 12, 2025 — Stewardship Asia Centre (SAC) and the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) have signed an agreement to launch “Steward Leadership Impact: Local Action, Global Growth,” the first-of-its-kind global expedition programme under SG Leaders Network (SGLN).
SGLN, managed by HCLI with the support of the Singapore Economic Development Board, underscores a strong regional commitment to developing purpose-driven leaders.
The SGLN Global Expeditions are curated international experiences designed to provide leaders with first-hand exposure to best-in-class global practices across geographies and sectors. Each year, participants are taken to different regions of the world to learn directly from pioneering organisations and communities.
This year, the programme will run from November 3 to 7 and will be conducted at the Doi Tung Development Project in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
The Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP) was initiated in 1988 by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation to transform the desolate area in Thailand's Golden Triangle. Facing the challenges of opium cultivation, poverty, and environmental degradation, the DTDP focused on reforestation and creating dignified employment opportunities. Through innovative approaches in fashion and lifestyle goods, as well as interventions to enhance coffee and macadamia cultivation, the DTDP became financially self-sufficient, uplifting the community, preserving traditions, and serving as a model for sustainable development.
The collaboration agreement formalises a shared vision between SAC and HCLI to scale the practice of Steward Leadership—an evolved model of leadership that creates win-win-win outcomes for stakeholders, society, and the environment. By partnering with SGLN, the initiative will also cultivate a vibrant community of leaders who can shape global impact while rooted in values.
“Steward leadership creates profitable solutions to pressing societal problems. At Stewardship Asia Centre, we believe that businesses thrive when they create value not just for shareholders, but also for society and the environment. The Steward Leadership Impact programme at Doi Tung brings this philosophy to life—showing leaders how purposeful action can drive sustainable growth and long-term success,” said Rajeev Peshawaria, CEO of Stewardship Asia Centre.
“The SG Leaders Network partnership with the Stewardship Asia Centre on the Steward Leadership Impact programme brings together a shared purpose: to shape a new generation of leaders. While SGLN focuses on cultivating global leadership from Singapore, SAC is dedicated to creating win-win-win outcomes for organisations, society, and the environment. This collaboration provides a unique competitive edge for leaders. We're excited to offer participants a firsthand look at Doi Tung's remarkable story of transformation and inspire them to become more purposeful leaders," said Kevyn Yong, CEO, Human Capital Leadership Institute.
